Protolab

Welcome to the Protolab!

We have both physical and digital resources available in this space, so alongside the people working there you can come here to answer your questions!

Intern Contributions

The protolab frequently has interns that support and develop projects. Here you can read on their experience and find more miscellaneous files they contributed.

With a bachelors in Interactive Media Design, I focused my time on becoming more confident and efficient in digital fabrication and prototyping. Alongside supporting the protolab and its students, I started collaborating with the Dtecla program. I also worked with Santi during the MDEF first year´s project weeks. We wanted to reframe the structure of the week in a way so it stimulates materialzing ideas as quickly as possible, so I made some physical tools to aid in that ie a timeline used for the daily check-ups every morning. What I enjoyed most was becoming more intimate with the machines and the workshops, and then helping teach for example the Dtecla teachers how to work with them as well.

I set up the Protolab section so all resources and projects developed there can easily be shared with eachother, especially past, present and future interns! Its also great to have an overview of is available, such as the softwares on the computers and design files for furniture. I set up a page for workflows but it is quite empty still, if you want to open source any process or share how you go from Fusion360 sketches to a CNC milled prototype for example, please contribute!! Beyond the work and project developed for the protolab, share other tinkerings done in the lab! During my internship and then freelancing for a couple of weeks to continue supporting, I worked with the Detecla program. I made quite some things for them, which I shared on the design files page, under ´educational tools and dtecla program.
